Magic With A Twist

WEBSITE DESIGN

OVERVIEW

Prepare to be shocked and amazed with the sparkling new website for Magic With A Twist. Michael Gilliland has been performing magic tricks since the age of 8. He has spent all his time and focus creating smiles and memories for everyone around him, yet, his website was seriously outdated. It was finally time to update his site so that it better showcased his versatility in the types of shows he performs while also letting his fun loving personality shine through. Mike is able to do magic shows that range from private kids parties, to quietly mixing in a crowd to do magic one-on-one, all the way to large corporate events — and everything in between.

GOALS

  • A complete redesign of the old website to make everything more exciting, sparkly, and magical.

  • Mike really has A LOT of tricks up his sleeve. We had to find a way for clients to easily understand the magic shows he provides and all the extra add-ons they can choose from, including inflatable rentals, face painting, and cotton candy machines. He really has it all.

  • A way for Mike to gather more information about a potential event from his clients before contacting them directly.

PROCESS & SOLUTIONS

To start the process, we worked with Mike to create a list of his desired features and design elements. We also narrowed down the services and rentals that would be displayed, especially since his clown sidekick had since retired.

The new website was a complete overhaul from the previous one. It utilized more vibrant colors that would allow visitors to more easily navigate the website and also bring their attention to the more important bits of information. We added a bubbling background on buttons when hovered to match Mike’s bubbly personality.

All of Mike’s varying magician show services were grouped together on one easy-to-read page displaying all of his shows available: comedy shows, library shows, fundraisers, adult shows, strolling shows, and corporate/tradeshows. Birthday parties, being a unique event of their own, had their own page of descriptions. Rentals were also made visible on one page where visitors could find activity inflatables, game inflatables, and so many other additional services Mike can provide alongside a magic show. A new central gallery provides a sneak peak of the experience.

Finally, we created a new form where potential clients could include as many details as they wanted, allowing Mike to have a better sense of what clients were looking for before making that initial phone call.

Once everything was built and ready to go, we gave Mike a detailed tutorial on how to easily make his own updates to the website.

Have a look at the before and after — What a difference!

For Powerserve’s annual staff get together, Mike joined us as he mingled in the crowd, eliciting multitudes of smiles and many exclamations of ‘how did he do that?” It was a delightful evening! We’re so happy to be part of Mike’s website transformation and hope that many more spectators are able to enjoy his delightful performance as much as we did.
